About Us Plainview Growers was established in 1985 as a finished bedding plant and potted crop producer servicing garden centers and florists in the New York metropolitan area. In 1990, having seen the potential in the area of specialty propagation, we began producing young plants from seed (plugs). Total production for that initial season was a little over five million plugs. In 1997-98, the company purchased approximately 200 acres of farmland in Allamuchy, NJ to expand operations. Plainview Growers has always attempted to take advantage of new technologies in order to improve product quality. Today we are featured in Greenhouse Grower magazine as the 5th largest plug grower as we sell over 160 million ProPlugs annually. Plainview Growers has established itself as a leader within the wholesale greenhouse industry by providing a wide variety of quality products at a fair price. The company prides itself on ensuring that customers receive superior service from the time the order is placed through the after care required once product is delivered. Our Locations Plainview Growers has two locations in New Jersey. Our corporate offices and 270,000 square feet of greenhouses are located in Pompton Plains. The outside growing area is 87,120 square feet. The offices and production area are 30,000 square feet. Our second location is in Allamuchy, this facility has 285,750 square feet of glass greenhouse space. We also have 25000 square feet of production and shipping area. About 653,400 square feet of outside area is used to grow our fall Chrysanthemum crop. Recent Events Instant ColorTM We introduced our brand of finished products called Instant ColorTM. Instant ColorTM emphasizes our high quality finished product that customers will ask for. Instant ColorTM was developed to meet the high expectations gardeners have when planning and planting a beautiful garden. Expansion The second phase of our expansion in Allamuchy was recently completed with the addition of another 3 acres of open roof greenhouses. We added new seeding equipment, plug fixing machine, table managing robots and cart tracking system. These new additions allowed us to increase our capacity and provide a larger selection of the best quality plugs and potted plants. Liners In 2004-2005 we partnered with S&G as a rooting station to offer over 400 varieties of vegetative liners. R.O. plant In 2004 we installed a state of the art water treatment system with a reverse osmosis plant. This clean source of water has helped us to take our plant quality to one of the highest in the industry.
